Peter Schmidt Group ends a year full of creative successes
The Peter Schmidt Group ends a creatively successful year with gold at the DDC AWARD 2025: The Deutscher Design Club names “The Revived“ as the winner in the Crossmedia category. The campaign had previously received the Grand Prix at the Red Dot Award. It mobilized donations for Ukraine and shows how design can have a social impact.
The campaign “The Revived“ is Peter Schmidt Group's most creatively successful project in 2025: after winning the Grand Prix at the Red Dot Award Communication Design and further awards at the ADC, CDP, iF DESIGN Award, LIA, and Clio Sports, the campaign receives gold in the Crossmedia category at the DDC AWARD 2025.
With the help of artificial intelligence, “The Revived” digitally brought six Ukrainian athletes who had fallen in the Russian war of aggression back to life and allowed them to share their stories posthumously at the Olympic Games in Paris. Eye-catching branding and medal boxes containing service badges instead of gold medals provided powerful images and generated media coverage. The goal of collecting donations for Ukraine was thus achieved. The campaign was implemented in close cooperation with the families concerned by the TEAMBBDO agencies.
“We are grateful that this important issue is receiving more attention. Our thoughts are with the many families affected. Above all, this recognition is a tribute to the lives lost. The most important thing for us is that we have been able to contribute to keeping the memory alive through creativity and AI,” said Lukas Cottrell, CEO of the Peter Schmidt Group.
The coexistence of two opposing trends requires brands to have a clear strategic line. Here, the trend paper offers valuable assistance to brand managers and designers and identifies ten key takeaways. Market observations and experience from many years of collaboration with leading brands such as Labello, Weleda, and Schwarzkopf have also been incorporated into the analysis.”
Brand icons impress in competitions
Overall, Peter Schmidt Group draws an extremely positive conclusion from the 2025 awards year, in which it almost doubled the number of award-winning projects compared to the previous year. With nine Red Dot Awards won, it also achieved the best result in its history."
The agency has been successful with designs for iconic brands: with Weleda, it made a brand that stands for sustainability like no other attractive to young target groups. The new look of the IT system house Bechtle helped the company position itself as a major European player. And E.ON's new image reinforces the company's established codes while increasing its communication possibilities. All of these projects have won multiple awards in competitions – E.ON even won four German Brand Awards. The DDC award concludes a year for the Peter Schmidt Group that impressively confirms its creative excellence and innovative strength. The award-winning projects also cover a broad spectrum – from corporate design and packaging to campaign and editorial design to illustration and typography. Lukas Cottrell: "Leading iconic brands into the future is our core competence. We treat values built up over decades with respect, consolidating and strengthening them in the process. Weleda is the best example of this: further developing Rudolf Steiner's font is a task that is not entrusted to just anyone – placing their trust in us truly honored us."
