Hamburg, 18.04.2023

Six Peter Schmidt Group projects were successful in the 2023 iF DESIGN AWARD competition, including the corporate designs for Mey and Canton as well as the brand identity for the Ghanaian startup Washking.

Since 1954 the iF DESIGN AWARD has been one of the most renowned design competitions – making it a valuable indicator for many companies when selecting an agency. Accepting six awards at this year's ceremony, Pete Schmidt Group once again underscored its position as one of the most successful design agencies in the world. In the international agency ranking of the iF DESIGN AWARD, Peter Schmidt Group ranks among the top 3 in the field of branding.

Among the winning projects at the 2023 iF DESIGN AWARDS were the corporate designs for loudspeaker manufacturer Canton and lingerie brand Mey. Both have already impressed the judges at several other creative competitions as well, with Mey having recieved a coveted Nail from ADC Germany as well as a Red Dot award in communication design along with a Red Dot award and the Corporate Design Prize. The iF DESIGN AWARD also honored the personal branding for athlete Samuel Fitwi, the brand identity for the Black Lion e-sports community, and the packaging-design project “United Spirit of PSG.”

Washking: Design as a tool for positive change

An award was also presented for the corporate design of Washking, a startup from Ghana. It is impressive not only for its design quality, but also because it contributes to sustainable development in the country. Peter Schmidt Group met the founder of Washking through the development aid organization Impacc. Dieudonne Kwame Agudah's company relies on a clever payment system that enables the poorest of the poor to install and use innovative compost toilets. An iconic design is now helping him tell his brand story in a professional manner. Washking has already helped more than 1300 people improve their social station.

“Design can play an essential role in helping innovations find an audience. It has the power to drive positive change in society,” explained Lukas Cottrell, managing partner of Peter Schmidt Group. “Our work for Washking is the best example of this. Dieudonne doesn't just help people acquire a toilet – he restores their dignity. The design serves to reinforce his story and creates an engaging momentum that gets people enthusiastic.”
