As crafting by hand still makes us as happy today as it did a century ago.
"Do it yourself" is once again back in fashion as despite all the multimedia opportunities available to children today, making and creating by hand is still a source of fun and the AllesKönnerKisten (craft cartons), from Franckh-Kosmos Verlag, reflect this trend. They inspire both children and young people alike to explore their creativity, yet unlike other colourful craft products currently available the cartons are based on a sound principle of "Back to Basics": Bold colours combine with natural tones and serve as a visual key code that illustrates the materials of each individual craft situation, whilst a design concept employs a collage of pictures, illustrations and typography that underlines the imperfect character of crafting. The carton look of the packaging itself additionally supports the "hands-on" nature of each experience whilst sympathetic helping figures offer a humorous touch to the craft theme.
Inside each carton there is something for everyone: Make your own monster, construct a colour spinner, build a unique UFO, create a sculpture in plaster or even craft your own beaded sandals, many things are possible yet best of all, everything is created with childlike delight. For the whole idea we first created a concept and then developed the product name, logo and packaging design all from a single source. Following several years of success AllesKönnerKisten are today firmly established within the toy market and the bold decision of Franckh-Kosmos Verlag has certainly paid off as its craft cartons continue to be enthusiastically enjoyed by both children and parents alike.
