Peter Schmidt Group remains Germany's top-performing brand and design agency
Peter Schmidt Group has successfully maintained its top position as Germany's leading brand and design agency. With a total turnover of 25.5 million euros (2018), the agency continues to be well ahead of the industry runner-up (20 million euros) in the current ranking of the specialist newspaper HORIZONT.
In its ranking of the 25 largest German brand and design agencies, the specialist newspaper HORIZONT focuses on the respective share of the CD/CI business; disciplines such as consumer branding are not taken into account. Still, the editorial team states, "The agency founded by designer legend Peter Schmidt has made it unmistakably clear that – taking all of its business areas into account – it is the German design company with the highest turnover." Major clients such as Deutsche Bahn, Henkel, Imperial Brands, Linde, Postbank, Douglas and REWE prove that the agency is capable of providing outstanding service in a wide variety of diverse industries. And many of these customer relationships are long-lasting. For example, the agency has been working with Postbank for twenty years.
A closer look at the figures also shows that no other agency has such a diverse service portfolio as Peter Schmidt Group. In addition to pure corporate design work, almost half of the agency's sales are generated in business areas such as consumer branding and retail. Along with individual designs and strategic concepts, the agency's activities focus on versatile, scalable digital portals that enable Peter Schmidt Group customers to efficiently handle and maintain all assets worldwide. In this context, automated design processes are becoming increasingly relevant. "Corporate design has always involved combining consistency and creativity. The use of artificial intelligence and programmatic design gives us new potential to make productive use much easier," explained managing partner Armin Angerer. "At the same time, of course, it is important to support brand users and convey genuine understanding. Increasingly, designers are becoming organizational consultants."
As part of the agency network BBDO Group Germany, Peter Schmidt Group employs a staff of about 220 in Hamburg, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Munich and Tokyo. In addition to DAX corporations and medium-sized companies, Peter Schmidt Group also serves clients from the cultural sector and start-ups with high creative potential. At this year's ADC Festival, the agency won accolades with its "Grace of Waste" project, which was the only work to be awarded one of the coveted "Nails" in the category of sustainable design.
