Peter Schmidt Group wins in four categories at the 2021 iF DESIGN AWARDS

Hamburg, 05.05.2021

For a variety of designs including packaging, an app, and a viral idea for an antiviral campaign, Peter Schmidt Group impressed the panel of judges in multiple categories and won four prizes in the 2021 iF DESIGN AWARD competition.

The international panel of judges honored the Pandemic Design System that provides guidance during the conoravirus pandemic, the “Cards of Grace” app that makes sustainability fun, and the reusable furoshiki cloth for wrappig gifts, as well as the modernized packaging for Eilles brand tea.

Presented by the iF International Forum Design in Hanover – the world's oldest independent design organization – the iF DESIGN AWARD is one of the best-known competitions in the industry. This year, a panel of 98 expert judges reviewed nearly 100,000 entries from 52 countries – and awarded prizes to four projects created by the brand and design agency Peter Schmidt Group.

Three of them were initiated by teams within the agency. In the “Communication” category, the judges honored the Pandemic Design System, a set of universally understandable pictograms that explain recommended behavior during the coronavirus pandemic using motifs that are easy to grasp. The pictograms can be incorporated into a wide variety of corporate identities and situations, and are equally effective in digital applications and as printed posters. The panel of judges also honored the “Cards of Grace” app designed by well-known illustrators and the agency's own creatives. The app demonstrates that the best way to motivate people to adopt a sustainable lifestyle is through cheerful communication.

In the “Packaging” category, a 2021 iF DESIGN AWARD was presented to the agency’s reusable furoshiki cloth. Inspired by the traditional Japanese way of wrapping gifts, Peter Schmidt Group created a sustainable alternative to disposable wrapping paper that at the same time raises awareness for one of the most important ecological issues of our time – the damage to the environment caused by disposable packaging. The project had already won two Red Dot awards and three of the coveted ADC "Nails", and was shortlisted at both D&AD and The OneShow.

“Our commitment to the environment and social responsibility is not just another agency initiative. It reflects our deep-seated desire to make the world a better place, which is fundamental to all of our projects. We are very happy that our solutions have been recognized not only by our clients but also by the judges of prestigious competitions,” said Norbert Möller, Executive Creative Director, Peter Schmidt Group.

And in the “Packaging” category, an award went to the agency’s packaging design for the Eilles brand of tea. Thanks to the revamped design, the brand stands from the competition on supermarket shelves, hotel buffets and in tea shops. Peter Schmidt Group was able to combine long-standing knowledge and expertise with the pioneering spirit of a start-up.
