Peter Schmidt Group gives the Triathlon Bundesliga a dynamic new visual identity

The German Triathlon Bundesliga – also named 1. Bitburger 0.0% Triathlon Bundesliga after its main sponsor – is starting its season with a completely new brand appearance. Germany's leading brand and design agency Peter Schmidt Group has created a powerful look that gives the sport a stronger visual presence.

The top league of the German Triathlon Bundesliga is starting its new season with a brand-new visual identity. The logo, typography, pictures and icons all feature a distinctive offset effect that symbolizes breaking through barriers and the drive to surpass oneself with one's own performance. “The new design makes this clear at first glance – it's always moving forward,” said design director David Marreiros, who developed the look in collaboration with his team and creative director Sven Rieckmann. In addition to the striking offset effect, the brand design features bold colors: on all communication media, blue and gold are combined with black-and-white contrasts to achieve a powerful visual impact. “We want to help strengthen the public perception of this fascinating sport. And at the same time we can't hide our own enthusiasm – as an agency, as designers, and also as athletes,” added Marreiros.

Fans can check out the new design as of this week on the league's website at www.triathlonbundesliga.de. When the season starts in Berlin on June 5-6, the new look will also feature prominently in the public space throughout the finals, on stadium perimeter banners and goalposts as well as print media.

New brand identity reflects the sport's increasing professionalization

“All the considerations and ideas we have invested in the ongoing growth and increasing professionalism of the Bundesliga serve the goal of honoring the performance of the athletes and teams, as well as ensuring the league remains an attractive platform for fans, media and partners,” said Lisa Merget, consultant for marketing at the German Triathlon Union. “So the logical next step for us was to optimize our brand positioning and our visual appearance. The Bundesliga stands for tradition on the one hand, but we also keep an eye out for innovation and modern trends. We are pleased to have found an enthusiastic partner in the renowned Peter Schmidt Group from Hamburg, who helped us shape and formulate our brand attributes. They were thrilled to be taking on a project from the world of sports.”
